Title I

The goal of the Federal Programs Department is to assist in providing educational excellence for students in the Newton County School System by directing the implementation of Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA), Title I, Part A Programs for Disadvantaged Children, Title I, Part D Prevention and Education Programs for Children and Youth who are Neglected, Delinquent or At-Risk, and Title X, Part C McKinney-Vento Assistance Act - Education for Homeless Children and Youth. 


We want to hear from you! Do you have any suggestions for how we can best reach out to, communicate with, and work with you as equal partners? Do you have suggestions for our Title I program, Parent and Family Engagement Policy, School-Parent Compact, Building Staff Capacity, CLIP and/or Parent and Family Engagement Funds? Title I Events

Title I Annual Family Orientation & Curriculum Night

Thursday, August 29th @ 6:00 pm

 

Families will receive information on the benefits of being a Title I school and review the current Parent and Family Engagement Policy, Family-School Compact and upcoming family events. Families will also be able to visit our Parent Resource center to see available items for supporting students at home.

Light refreshments served. Childcare services will be provided upon request.

 

Super Family Literacy Night!

Thursday, September 26th @ 5:30 pm

 

Join us for a fun filled evening of reading with Super Heros! Families will learn how to reinforce reading strategies at home. Teachers and families will participate in a variety of hands-on activities to help build stamina for phonemic awareness, word recognition, vocabulary and comprehension. Parents will be able to visit the Parent Resource Center to check out grade specific Reading kits to help practice reading skills at home.

 

CSI Math Night

Thursday, October 24th @ 5:30 pm

 

Join us for a fun filled evening of cracking the mystery of mathematics! There are so many strategies that need to be cracked… can you help solve the math mystery? Teachers and families will participate in a variety of hands-on activities to help increase fluency, problem solving skills and increase mathematical vocabulary. Parents will be able to visit the Parent Resource Center to check out grade specific math activities to help practice math skills at home.

 

The Great Escape

February 20th @ 5:30 pm

 

Join us for a fun filled evening of escaping testing anxieties! Families will review upcoming spring testing for each grade level. Teachers will share strategies on how families can help their child(ren) be successful before, during and after testing. Families will participate in a variety of hand-on activities to support upcoming testing and receive handouts on resources available to students and parents.

 

Annual Title I Revision and Development Meeting

Thursday, March 5th @3:00 pm & 5:30 pm

 

Families will review and provide feedback for school parent involvement policies, parent involvement policies, school-parent compact, parent involvement meetings and topics, use of parental involvement 1% allocation, Title I plan, Comprehensive Local Education Agency Implementation Plan(CLIP) and Building Staff Capacity.
