Chorus Christmas ConcertHonor Chorus

Welcome to the Rocky Plains Elementary School Chorus page. In 5th grade, students are able to sign up to participate in chorus before school. Students attend a rehearsal once a week in preparation for a winter and a spring concert. Chorus rehearsals are currently held from 7:05am to 7:35am each Thursday morning. RPES Chorus is directed by the general music teacher, Rachel Blackmon.

Excellent behavior, punctuality, and attendance are all required. Incoming members must sign a behavior and attendance contract, and parents must sign a permission form in order for students to participate. In chorus, students learn discipline, problem solving skills, and concentration. Singing in chorus also helps students to develop leadership and initiative, since there are opportunities for section leaders, soloists, and other leadership roles.  Students will learn basic vocal and choral technique, improve their music reading skills, and learn to sing in parts. And let’s not forget…it’s a lot of fun!

R. Blackmon has set up a Class Dojo page for messaging, reminders, and documentation of absences and behavior. If you have any questions and are already on Class Dojo, feel free to message R. Blackmon directly in the app. If you are not on the RPES Chorus Class Dojo list, please email questions to [email protected]
